Anne (the gallry's owner) has selected some of my work, to be shown on a by-appointment basis. To anyone who may be interested, we are planning a brunch and viewing of my work within the next week or so. I will keep you posted. Please let us know if you are interested so we can send you a personal invite.

Check out...

http://tartsf.com/four/four.html or tartsf.com also

http://artfever.blogspot.com/2007/05/oliver-farley-at-tart-sf.html
for a review of my last show at TART.

I have also finished my book! Go to Blurb.com and search my title, Skipping Something. The book can be purchased directly from their website. The book includes amazing documentation from my last performance at Tart as well as text. Clair has a great eye for photography, it is clear from the images in Skipping Something. David also wrote a very descriptive intro for the book. I just want to take a step back and reflect on all that's been going on and let anyone who does not know about what's coming up for me and Red Without Blue.

Clair is right -- Honolulu was a blast. It was so fun to hang out and lounge on the beach with my mom and Jennifer. (I know you are reading this mom) Thank you and miss you. We also met some nice locals at the film fest while we were there. Thanks again for your questions at the Q&A.

A day later, we were off to Portland for the first Qdoc film festival. It was a short trip, but was one of the best screenings we have ever had. The film was the opening night doc, so the first screening sold out. However, they had a 2nd screening after the first. David and Russ (the guys who put on the festival) hooked us up with a great hotel and invited us to the filmmakers brunch. There, Clair, Todd, Benita and I not only ate well, but met great filmmakers and supporters of the festival. It was great to meet so many friendly and smart people after the film screenings. There were quite a few sets of twins in the crowd- GO TWINS. I also ran into the mother of a girl I went to boarding school with. I found out her daughter was living in San Francisco also. After a day and a half, I was ready to move to Portland. David and I plan on taking a trip out there in the future.

Since being back in San Francisco we have had a lot of interviews for the frameline screening's and the Sundance premiere on the 25th. Everyone pick up a copy of today's Chronicle, or go to http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2007/06/16/MNGLNQGM8R1.DTL to read it. All of the interviews have been wonderful with great questions (Thanks Bill). We will post a link to the press once we have it. While I am on the topic of promoting the film, if you have not read this month's Advocate or the San Francisco Magazine, you should. Both have unique and well written articles on the film. SF Mag used beautiful photos by Jock Macdonald of Clair and me skipping rope.

These are the dates for Fameline31. Clair and I will be at both screenings to do a Q&A.

June 17 & 20, 2007 Frameline, San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival

June 17: 5:00 pm, The Victoria

June 20: 2:30 pm, The Castro Theatre San Francisco, California

See you there!

A Little Golden and Back From Hawii

Clair here, The Rainbow Film Fest was a great reason to visit the Islands and get some color on my pasty white body. Although I felt like a amateur next to the dried up beach babes greased in fat. But the film was a huge success at the Fest where we had a fun and had a supportive audience.
My mom was part of the Q & A which was a trip because she was very elegant and reached the community and many of the parents in the audience. A mother of gay or questioning twin boys as well as a adopted transgender daughter was among them. Amazing!!!! She thanked us for sharing our story and she gave a voice to her children and spoke of her own pain or lose. She spoke of her children's sexual abuse and how devastating was for children to keep that secret alone because she had wished that she loved them so much but could do nothing she said. I Thanked her for her bravery and assured her that like this film there can be joyous end for her also.
It is not that my family and others who have come to some understanding with each other or the pain of there past do not still have challenges but one becomes better prepared or equipped for those life lessons. One can master any circumstance by coming to some kind of inner truth or understanding that every experience is about change and with fluidity it will pass. Knowing that we can be and we are everything and anything through this journey of remembering we come to see the true essence of the entire spiritual collective.
In end I feel relaxed and grateful for all the peaceful times I had with my mom and Jen shopping, laying on the beaches, watching the fishes in the tide poles. I know this fun will last forever Love Clair K.J.
Red without Blue ~ rock star
Look out for an update next week from the Portland Queer Doc film fest. I'm heading off to Toronto for InsideOut, and Mark, Clair and David are all flying out to Hawaii for the Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival.

I'm kinda surprised that they agreed to come over tonight, seeing as how dinner last week ended in sheer disappointment... my tivo malfunctioned and recorded "Reba" instead of the "America's Next Top Model" season finale. The pain on Mark and David's faces was palpable. But alas, we'll be ordering Indian in, and watching other trashy television before we all embark upon our travels to different fests.

If you live in Toronto, please come to the film on: Sat, May 26 @ 5pm at the Isabel Bader Theatre
You can also catch me on Pride Radio tomorrow at 4pm Toronto time. I think we're huge in Canada or something. This will be my third radio interview in Toronto in three days, plus we got kick ass reviews in NOW Magazine and Calgary's News & Entertainment Weekly. Gotta love those Canadians ay?

On the other hand, if you are lucky enough to live in Honolulu, make sure to catch the film on Sat, May 26th @ noon at the Honolulu Design Center (Cupola Theatre).
Jenny (the twins' mom) and Jennifer (Jenny's best friend) both live in Honolulu now... so that screening will be attended by Mark, Clair, David, Jenny and Jennifer. And believe me, Jenny is the most fun person in the world to be around, so don't miss the chance to hang out with her if you can.

Also, Mark just gave me a whole bunch of pics from his solo show at Tart. His performance piece was quite possibly one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. I'll be posting the pics on the Mark and Clair Update page soon, so keep checking back!

I'll be sure to post again in Canada!
brooke

Yerba Buena Screening

I wanted to write really quickly about the fantastic sneak peak screening we had through the Film Arts Foundation at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Somehow, flavorpill got word of the screening, and Film Arts did a bunch of outreach as well. The result was a sold-out event, and the audience was probably the most receptive bunch of peeps I have ever seen. Laughing at all the right parts, silent at the right parts too.

The Q&A was just fucking incredible. There were TWO trans identical twins in the audience, plus Clair means three trans identical twins in one room. There are only twelve documented cases in the world (and obviously many more undocumented cases), so it was a pretty incredible occurence to have three in one room. Only in San Francisco.

Everyone loved the film and it was just so exciting to have such a succesful screening in my hometown. The Film Arts Foundation really did a fantastic job of pulling the whole thing together and promoting it well. I can't say enough good things about that organization. It's the greatest resource of all time for an independent filmmaker. Plus, they really foster a community of supportive filmmakers and filmmaking. I wish every filmmaker in every city had a support network like that.

If you were at the screening at Yerba Buena, please post your thoughts on the event. If you live in the Bay Area and missed the event, don't worry. We've got two more screenings coming up in San Fran through Frameline. The first will be on June 17 @ 5pm at the Victoria Theatre, and the second one is on June 20 @ 2pm at the Castro Theatre. I can't wait for Frameline... those screenings are going to be unparalled. If you don't live in SF, check our screenings page to find out when the film is playing be you. I'm off to Toronto in a few days for InsideOut. I'll keep you all posted on my first trip ever to Toronto. Good times.
-Brooke

Updated Website!!!

So I just spent the last couple of weeks completely revamping the website. I realized two things in the process. (1) I hate revamping websites and (2) so much has changed since we first made that site. The film has come a very long way.

There's all kinds of new things to check out... but perhaps the most exciting new feature is a comprehensive list of our soundtrack. For the emerging musicians who haven't yet published an album, you can link to their myspace pages and listen to their stuff, and for the artists that do have cds, you can buy them right through our site (it will take you to amazon).

The other major undertaking is this blog. I've never been a diary keeping, journal writing kind of kid, because, well, most of my ridiculous thoughts aren't necessarily worthy of recording... BUT, everyday we get new news regarding RWB, and I figure the blog is the best way to keep everyone in the loop. So, Mark, Clair, Benita, Todd and I will all be posting regularly so keep checking back. I'm also going to work on creating a forum that will be a bit more conducive to your feedback. Hopefully that will be up and running in the next couple of days.

So... If you like the new site, let me know. And if something isn't working, please let me know that too. Enjoy!
-Brooke

Park City to Paris

Back to the world of the mundane. It will be great to have some of the San Francisco posse there to support us too.

If anyone has any Park City tips, be sure to pass those along.

-Benita-
